Some BIG Ideas 💡

You know that thing when you have a big idea, like a big one? Not a “should I get a new haircut”, or “should I try yoga”. But like a “Hey, should I commit 6 months of training for a single race?”. Ya, one of those. Sooooo…… I’m doing that one! Coming off of last year’s self designed Ultra marathon in Oregon, and my largest … Continue reading Some BIG Ideas 💡

Goals goals goals

Hey folks. With weather shifting from summers easy going warm nights to cooler darker and damper conditions, it seems like the natural time that people start winding down from their endeavors. Finishing off racing seasons and tapering down to a break or at least a subtle shoulder season maintenance schedule. 50 days from the end of the year(ish). Where’s everyone at? Boxes checked? New goals … Continue reading Goals goals goals

Timberline Trail Full Throttle

The Timberline, a 66 km trail that circumnavigates Mt Hood in Oregon. Situated about an hour SE from Portland the trail starts at the Timberline Lodge at the base of the ski hill and slowly ribbons its way around the mountain exposing all its nooks and crannies in spectacular fashion. Parts of the PCT intersect and piggy back the trail here before branching off again. … Continue reading Timberline Trail Full Throttle

Running Hangover?

So after coming home from our epic 70+km Oregon run, I am in a bit of a running hangover. Tired, but not really, just kind of in the void. Stuck with not a lot of motivation. Needing to put more fuel in the tank, I have been relying heavily on jumping out with local running groups out in Richmond, something to keep the legs moving, … Continue reading Running Hangover?

Unrecognized Success

Wait, WTF are you talking about? Is it not a beautiful thing? Does it count? Does anyone care? It may be hard to determine that answer for some. We are so often (myself included) caught up in the tracked stats, or socially acknowledged accolades of achievement. Maybe hopeful for some acknowledgement from others in the same bracket, friends, or family that we forget why we … Continue reading Unrecognized Success

Run your feet off!

Well, where are we at? We have quickly approached the middle of the year, and WOW the first half has been bonkers with running. Like a lot of running. Trail, road, day and night, you name it we got it. And it’s all for sale! We have tackled some pretty amazing things so far. 1 full marathon, 6 half marathons, a 4x4x48 challenge, and the … Continue reading Run your feet off!

Run your City

Have you ever run around your city? No your whole city, like the whole fucking thing? Like every metre of its border?… As a runner I have. It was a lot bigger (63kms round and round) and not as easy to do as I thought. Challenges with reroutes and lack of accessibility to parts of the city as well as some fairly sketchy roads with … Continue reading Run your City

Going the Distance

Ok seriously. We are doing this. Right? The idea. A run. A run around the city you live in. Sounds good. The catch. The perimeter of the city you live in lies somewhere north of 60km all in. Well I guess we’re running an ultra marathon then, aren’t we? The idea had been mentioned to me a while back while on a run with another … Continue reading Going the Distance

48hr Sufferfest

What the hell was I thinking? That was certainly the thought that came to mind lacing up the shoes as we were getting ready to head out on leg one. I nervously tied the laces too tight and fumbling around to readjust them. We had 5 minutes to get out the door for the 8pm starting time. A 4 mile run lay ahead of us … Continue reading 48hr Sufferfest

On the Horizon

It starts with a commitment. Visualizing a goal, setting up a path for yourself to navigate, and keeping yourself honest about the work that goes into achieving that goal. Rolling into 2023, I hadn’t really set in stone any “must do’s”. Truthfully I was so busy trying to complete my last running project I hadn’t really given myself the time to reflect on the year … Continue reading On the Horizon
